INTRODUCTION
The ochre coloured Masia Casanova is a magnificent and historic Penedes wine producing estate that dates back to 1842. In recent years it has been lovingly transformed into a luxurious holiday villa set within 4,500m2 of delightful gardens and beautifully situated on a hillside in the Penedes wine region with stunning panoramic views.
Masia Casanova has been renovated to a high standard while still keeping many of the original features and overall character of the property. The owners have created a charming and peaceful retreat amongst the vineyards offering space, privacy and luxury to make your holiday or special occasion a truly unforgettable experience.
READ MORE... Despite its beautiful rural location Barcelona airport is just 25 minutes away and within 35 minutes you can be in the heart of Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Catalonia. In addition, the sandy beaches of the popular seaside resort of Sitges are just 10 minutes away. The house is situated Garraf Natural Park, which offers hundreds of kilometers of hiking and mountain biking trails. INTERIOR The house has been thoughtfully and sympathetically designed to provide modern and hi-tec comforts, while the preservation of many original rustic features like wooden ceiling beams, exposed stone walls, tile flooring and open fireplaces ensures that the historical essence and charm of this magnificent property have been retained. Masia Casanova offers 650 m2 of luxurious living space consisting of the main house and the ‘Casita’. There is a large open plan lounge and dining area. The dining area is bright and spacious and includes a large dining table with seating for 20 guests. The lounge is comfortably furnished with sofas and coffee tables and quirky artwork on the walls. The modern and spacious kitchen is fully equipped with everything necessary for your holiday. A breakfast bar provides a convenient place to eat or enjoy a glass of wine. There are 9 en-suite guest rooms in total. 5 of the suites are located in the Masia (the main building) and 3 of these have direct access to all the public areas of the Masia and the other 2 have their own private entrance. The other 4 suites are located in the Casita (bungalow) situated 20 meters from the main building. Each of these delightful suites has a private terrace with table and chairs and great views. All 9 suites have a private bath and/or shower, most suites offer both. BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS The rooms in Masia Casanova are named after the superb grapes from the local Penedes wine area: Xarello, Chardonnay, Mascabeu, Malvasia de Sitges, Merlot, Samos and Monasrell. These charming suites are between 24m2 and 57m2 in size and all are decorated in a unique individual style. The standard configuration for sleeping is 8 bedrooms with one King size bed (200/210cm x 180cm) and 1 bedroom with 2 King size beds (each 200cm x 160cm). We can add maximum of 4 single beds for an additional cost of Euro 50,–/person/ night. 2 babycots are available upon request for an additional cost. – All guest rooms have flatscreen TVs with local and/or SAT TV, and the all bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers. – On request the bedding configuration can be adapted to your needs. In some of the rooms a single bed can be added for an additional price of Euro 50,- /person/day. – There are multiple TV’s, sound systems and iPod docking stations. Bathrooms There are 9 bathrooms in total; Bathroom 1 – bath and shower, WC – All 5 Suites and 4 Casitas have large en-suite bathrooms with WC. – One additional toilet in the main house. – One additional shower in the sauna/steam room. GARDENS & OUTSIDE SPACES Without doubt, the main attraction of the beautiful outside spaces at Masia Casanova is the fantastic 15m x 7m salt water swimming pool and Jacuzzi with surrounding sun terraces and lawned area. Guests can wile away lazy summer days lounging on one of the many sun loungers arranged around the pool edge in complete privacy or enjoy the sunset over the Garraf Natural Park while sipping a cocktail in the Jacuzzi. Masia Casanova offers many amenities that you will usually only find in 5 star hotels including a salt water swimming pool with teak sun loungers for 18 guests, a state-of-the-art shaded pool house, a large outdoor dining area with views to the pool and surrounding mountains, an 8 person outdoor Jacuzzi (heated all year round) and even a steam sauna. With its beautifully landscaped terraces, the Masia offers plenty of space for guests to enjoy the outdoor Mediterranean lifestyle with many shady corners around the gardens offering private retreats for quiet contemplation out of the hot afternoon sun. Feel free to wander the grounds during sunset. Eat a fresh orange from the many orange trees or pick almonds while enjoying the sweeping view over the surrounding hills and all the way to the sacred mountain of Montserrat. The fantastic private swimming pool measures 15m x 7m and is between 0.5m and 2m deep. There are plenty of loungers around the pool on which to soak up the hot afternoon sun. The Jacuzzi has beautiful views of the surrounding hills and vineyards. The outside spaces and amenities at Masia Casanova are perfectly set up for a fantastic holiday in the Catalan sun. PRACTICALITIES Air Conditioning THINGS TO DO There are so many ways to enjoy the days and nights at Masia Casanova but you’ll find so much to experience and enjoy in the local area if you can drag yourself away from the pool. The bustling seaside town of Sitges is just a 10-minute drive away. Sitges has just about everything you need on a holiday: sandy beaches, cool bars, quality restaurants, fashionable boutiques, festivals, fireworks, culture, nightlife and élan. Why not visit a local winery such as Torres, Finca Viladellops or Torre del Veguer? The legendary Cava Houses of Freixenet and Cordoniu are not too far away and offer fascinating and insightful tours. The wonderful cosmopolitan city of Barcelona with its world-class attractions is a 40-minute drive and can also be easily reached by train or bus. For those looking for more energetic distractions the nearby Mediterranean coast with its golden sandy beaches and numerous marinas offers unlimited opportunities for water based sports and boat rentals. My fiancee and I live in California and had the idea of possibly getting married in Spain after nearly 12 years of life on earth together. If you want an oasis and spectacular retreat just outside of Sitges in Spain, then look no further and book Masia Casanova. We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect to spend the week in Spain and are already trying to come up with anniversary plans, as we definitely plan on staying here again in the future.

We stayed at Masia Casanova in July for our wedding blessing. It was a fantastic stay. All rooms were of the highest quality and the entire villa was beautifully decorated with all the amenities you need on your holiday. I can not recommend this villa enough. It’s beautiful views and perfect distance from Sitges allowsed for the choice between the town or a quiet evening in the mountains which was the perfect balance. All of our guests could not believe we had found such a gem.

My family and I had the pleasure of not only staying here but also having my wedding here. We booked the Masia Casanova as it was very spacious and her enough rooms for all our guests. The rooms were very large and all the common rooms were well set up for a large family. They were very accommodating to us and very professional. The space was great for our small wedding, it was looking like rain on the day and there was no where for a wet weather wedding option but we got lucky and the rain held out. The shower faucets were a little dated, but the decor for each room were amazing. Thank you for a lovely weddings venue and stay, would recommend for any occasion.

We were a group of 22 people, ranging in age from 2 to 78. We loved staying at the villa. The pool was fantastic, and we all used it. Had a private chef (Bruno Bonnier) prepare dinners, and he is amazing! The rooms are large and very comfortable. I highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning property! The pictures look amazing, however, it’s even better in person. We had a group of three families with children ranging in age from 7-15. The grounds were spacious, with multiple garden and sitting areas to enjoy. The children loved the pool and were in it round the clock, while the adults sipped cava in the hot tub. The villa was gated, which enabled us to relax and not worry about children running off! There was also a sport court and cute little playground just a short walk from the villa. All of the bedrooms were HUGE, beautifully appointed, and en suite. The owners and Ana were wonderful and answered all questions promptly. We hired a private chef, Bruno Bonnier, for the week, and he was amazing! Reasonably priced and worth more than gold! The villa’s location was perfectly placed within easy access to Barcelona, Sitges (wonderful beaches!), and the priorat wine region. We’ve rented villas all over the World, and this one is by far a favorite! Thank you for sharing such a special place!

C’est un tres bel endroit avec de beaux équipements. Un joli mélange de style ancien (murs epais de vielles pierres, bois massifs … et de modernité (certaines chambres et salles de bains) Il y a de nombreux niveaux/escaliers comme souvent dans les villas espagnoles situées dans les collines. Reste toutefois plusieurs petites choses (ampoules HS, pour piles HS dans les telecommandes, taille et qualité des serviettes de toilette, bouteille de gaz vide pour le barbecue, coffre-fort dans certaines chambres inutilisables, cououre de courant lirsqu’on utilise le seche-linge, remontée d’odeur d’egout sur la terrasse …) qui sont difficilement acceptable a ce niveau de prix/prestation. Robert (notre hôte) ete Silvia (le contact sur place) ont été reactifs face a ces problèmes que nous leur avins signalé et on fait intervenir leur homme a tout faire afin qu’il regle certains de ce problemes rapidement Sans ces petis problèmes, notre séjour aurait été parfait.

My family and I (17 adults) had the most amazing holiday staying at Masia Casanova this August. The villa is beautiful, all rooms are a great size and the grounds are extremely well maintained. The outdoor speakers by the pool were unexpected and made for some great day and night time parties! We cooked/ate at the villa most evenings during our stay as we didn’t want to leave! A hire car is highly recommended as the local amenities/nearest towns are a short drive away – sat nav on a phone is also a great idea as it is a little tricky to find. The pictures do not do the villa enough justice, it was fabulous and we will definitely be back!
Around the property
Without doubt, the centrepiece of the beautiful outside spaces at Masia Casanova is the delightful 15m x 7m salt water swimming pool and Jacuzzi with surrounding sun terraces and lawned area.
Guests can wile away lazy summer days lounging on one of the many sun loungers arranged around the pool edge in complete privacy while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Al fresco dining is a delight on the beautiful shaded terrace overlooking the Garraf Natural Park.
There is also a large BBQ area and plenty of comfortable patio furnishing providing the perfect places in which to relax and chill out with a drink.
The grounds of the masia stretch to over 4,500 sqm with orange and almond trees and delightful views.
Out & about
BY DAY
If you can drag yourself from the wonderful pool you'll find so much to experience and enjoy in the local area for all members of the party. For a start there are numerous fantastic sandy beaches just minutes away in Sitges and Vilanova.
Visit the many excellent small local wineries close to the Masia. Torres, Finca Viladellops and Torre del Veguer are close by as are the legendary Cava Houses of Freixenet and Cordoniu. The cosmopolitan city of Barcelona with its world-class attractions is a 35-minute drive. There is a choice of theme parks and attractions within an hour drive including Port Aventura, one of the biggest in Europe. Andorra, Girona and France are all within day trip distance.
BY NIGHT
The charming narrow streets of Sitges old town are packed full of bars and restaurants offering great cuisine and a laid back ambience. Stroll down to the seafront and take your pick from one of the many alfresco eateries. Not ready to go home yet? Don't worry, the nightclubs are legendary. In the summer there are often festivals and fireworks for a splash of local colour and culture.
The less touristy coastal town of Vilanova is another option for the evening with some good beach bars and restaurants along its attractive seafront. The delights of Barcelona are also within reach for an evening out. The city hosts many world-class music, cultural and sports events all year round.
SPORTS & ACTIVITIES
For those looking for more energetic distractions the nearby Mediterranean coast with its golden sandy beaches offers unlimited opportunities for water based sports like jetskis, para sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, surfing and more. There are also sports marinas at both Sitges and Vilanova for boat rentals and fishing charters.
The Garraf Natural Park that surrounds the masia provides hundreds of kilometres of fantastic hiking and mountain bike trails. There is a tennis club in the local town and the nearest golf is 6 minutes away. 4 other quality golf courses are within a 30-minute drive.
